Which are the basic anatomic elements of the tooth?
The tooth is composed by two parts: the crown that can be seen in the mouth and the root that is inside the jaws.
There are single-rooted teeth and multiple rooted teeth. The crown is covered in enamel below which there is the dentin. The root is covered with cementum below which there is the dentin.
Inside the tooth, in the pulp chamber, there is a soft tissue called pulp containing nerves, blood vessels and cells that play a very important role during the growth and formation of the tooth. After the tooth formation is completed, the pulp’s role is still very important as it notifies us through pain for any possible tooth damage.
